Arthritis

Wear and tear in the spine and other joints – medically termed osteoarthritis – is a process of degeneration of joint structures which is ultimately a reality of aging. Graded as mild, moderate, or severe on a plain x-ray, this process can be accelerated in cases of prolonged, excessive strain – an example being the knee(s) of a marathon runner.

Less appreciated however, is the role played in this process by joints which are left ‘stiff’ or ‘stuck’. In order to stay healthy your joints require nutrients and toxins to diffuse in and out of the interior of the joint – a process which occurs only when those joints are moving adequately. This is where your chiropractor comes in: to specifically restore motion to ‘stuck’ spinal (and other joints), thereby maintaining joint health and slowing down this wearing out process.
